Concert Band FAQ

When does concert band take place?

Waukee High School has two concert bands comprised of 10-12th grade students. Auditions for concert bands takes place during school hours the week of first term finals in October. Concert bands are seated to start second term and students will meet with their band and directors the remainder of the year for their first class of the school day.

When does the concert band perform?

The Waukee Wind Symphony will perform at various concerts and festivals throughout Iowa. Directors will provide details as schedules are finalized for each event. Be sure to check the calendar page for upcoming events.

Both the Waukee Wind Symphony and the Waukee Concert Band will have three school performances per year. They take place in early December, late February, and early May. Please watch the calendar for details.

What should students wear for performances?

For concert band, students are asked to provide their own black and white formal wear. Students my wear a dress, provided that it is goes past the knee when the student is seated, or may wear black pants and a white shirt. Neck ties and black suit coats are encouraged.
